Should you trade today?

What have you noticed what’s happening in the market this week?

It’s a holiday week so people are traveling, they’re taking days off, and spending time with family.

That has resulted in lower trading volume across the board…

So what can you expect on a day like today that’s sandwiched between a holiday and a weekend?

It can go one of two ways … And I’ve seen them both in my 15 years of trading.

Here’s what to watch for and why…

Half-Day Holiday Trading

Yes, the market is only open for half a day today.

So what can we expect?

First, it could be a quiet day … Traders could be taking the day off because they’re hung over from turkey dinner, traveling back home, or they’re just taking a long weekend.

So if the market opens and it looks like nothing is happening — it’s okay to take a day off.

I always say, don’t turn trading into a crappy 9-5. Go do something you enjoy and spend time with your family.

Or catch up on past SteadyTrade Team webinars, YouTube videos, or review your trading journal

But the day could also play out completely differently…

I’ve seen some crazy moves happen on Black Friday in my career.

And with the market trading low volume like it has been — we could see some epic moves.

Why big moves when there’s little volume

Traders who come to the market are looking for action. And when there’s not a lot moving, and we get one nice chart pattern … Or an 8 a.m. press release…

All eyes will be on that stock.

It’s like what happened with Palisade Bio, Inc. (NASDAQ: PALI) on Tuesday. The markets were quiet, then we got one low floater with news and a $3+ per share move!

But you can also see some insane squeezes on low volume.

When there’s no volume for shorts to buy to cover into, when they want to exit, their own buying starts to increase the price.

Then they all have to outbid each other to get out.

Should you trade if you see an opportunity today? Or avoid the market completely on a half-trading day?

That depends on your strategy and setup. If you see something you like, it’s just like any other trading day.

But if you’re okay with taking a day off to catch up on reading or watching webinars — that’s okay too.

The market will be here next week. And I’ll be here to guide you through trades.
