New to day trading? Welcome to the jungle…
To new traders, the stock market can seem like a dense and confusing place. It can be hard to make the most of StocksToTrade’s 14-day trial when you don’t even understand basic trading terms.
To bring new traders up to speed, I’ve created a new NO-COST resource designed for newbies.
In my Day Trading 101 series, I start at the absolute beginning and progress from there.
If you’re new to trading and want to get familiar with the trading strategies and terms I toss around in blog posts and in my Pre-Market Prep sessions, this program is perfect for you.
But even experienced traders can benefit from revisiting the basics.
Why am I offering these sessions, and what can you expect from them? Good questions. Keep reading to find out…

A Little Bit About Me + Day Trading 101
If you’re new to the stock market and StocksToTrade, let me introduce myself.
I’m Tim Bohen, the lead trainer of the SteadyTrade Team, StocksToTrade’s mentorship program. Here are a few things to know about me:
- I’ve been actively day trading for 15 years.
- Since I started teaching, I’ve done over 2,500 webinars on how to day trade and swing trade.
- I’ve spoken at a number of trading expos.
- In 2019, I rang the market bell at the Nasdaq.
Trading is my passion, and I love passing on my knowledge and enthusiasm to others.
Why Trade Stocks?
Why take the time to learn how to day trade?
If you ask me, one of the top reasons why it’s worth learning is because it’s so flexible.
It’s possible to day trade as a side hustle because you can learn over time and avoid taking huge risks.
That means it’s possible to maintain a day job and financial stability while you get your feet wet in the market.
Maybe at some point, you can quit your job and focus on trading, or maybe you’ll find that you prefer to be a part-time trader.
No shame in being a part-time trader — actually, I’m a part-time trader!
What Is Day Trading?
Day trading is a specific type of short-term trading that capitalizes on intraday momentum. It’s not investing. It’s not holding a stock long-term.
Day traders hold positions for minutes, hours, or maybe the length of a trading day. But traders open and close positions on the same trading day.
What Is Day Trading 101?
In the Day Trading 101 course, my goal is to help break down the basics of day trading.
Plenty of people want to run before they walk. I know it’s boring to do the responsible thing and focus on learning. But if you want to be a trader for the long haul, you have to lay a good, strong foundation before you start executing trades.
Trust me — by taking the time to form that foundation of knowledge, you’re doing your future trading self a serious solid.
That means you’ve got to start with the basics.
