Every day people ask me “Tim, what’s going to be the big morning runner?”
People don’t like the answer. Funny enough, they tend to get frustrated….
“Give me a stock,” they say. So, today I’m going to give it to you straight up.

The Big Picture
Before I tell you what today’s top stock pick is, let me lay out the reasons why…
- It’s a low float stock: the lower the better for morning runners
- It has news: it doesn’t have to be the best, we just need a catalyst
- It’s up 50% or more
- It’s trading big volume: the float has already rotated, maybe twice or more by the time you read this
Now I’m going to give the part of the answer that people don’t like.
I can’t predict the ticker. Nobody can.
Here’s what I can do…
Teach You To Find It Yourself
Now, can I help you find it the night before? No. I don’t know what stock’s going to move the most.
That’s where the patterns and tools come in.
Let’s look at an example, so you can start building a library to study and review.
On Monday (July 13), Twin Vee Powercats Co. (NASDAQ: VEEE) spiked in premarket after it announced a merger. Then it got pumped in a big chat room. Later it turned into a killer short squeeze. Check it out…
Now, let’s run VEEE down the list to see why it was a box checker:
- Low float: 507k shares
- It had a news catalyst (see above)
- It was up 50%+ in premarket by the time it put in the first red 5-min candle
- VEEE had multiple float rotations all through the run up to the first red candle
Then the magic happened. You can read more about the RCT pattern here and watch this video.
Now, all you have to do is look at that chart again to see that the RCT wasn’t the only trade.
Daily Income Trader members got the Oracle signal alert for an entry at $13.28. After it crossed at 10:24 a.m., VEEE never traded below that level the rest of the day. And it traded 75.6 million shares on the day.
It gets better. Yesterday, VEEE squeezed more…
My Take
VEEE might be in the past now (check your trading software to see). I’m sure you would’ve liked knowing about the RCT, the Oracle signal, or the panic points that it hit. I get that. People who have those tools did know and many of them traded it really well.
But the point I want to make is one I’ve written and said to students many times:
The Tickers Change But the Patterns Repeat
So, when it comes to today’s big morning runner, what do you think I’m going to tell you?
Again, I can’t predict the ticker, but I can say with a high level of confidence that there is going to be a substantial morning runner with a high likelihood of continuing in the afternoon.
Watchlist
Yesterday (July 14) NextCure Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTC) announced a merger with Avere Therapeutics. The stock ran from $2.60 to $12.29 in premarket before opening in the $9s.
As I write, NXTC is consolidating in the $6-$7.50 range. If it continued to hold, or got squeezed into the close, it is worth adding to your watchlist today.
The boxes NXTC checked:
- Low float: 3.18M shares.
- It had news
- Big mover in premarket: it put in a textbook RCT at $8.98 x $8.26
- Multiple float rotations all through the runup to the first red 5-min candle
On My Radar
- CPI numbers yesterday showed the largest decrease since April 2020
- PPI numbers drop tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
- Need more space when you fly? On United Airlines (NASDAQ: UAL) you can buy the empty middle seat
- So much for the doom-and-gloom panicans: the U.S. economy is strong
