Experience
Tim started teaching in 2007. He still begins each year with a small account so that he can stay true to his trading roots and teach on a level that is realistic for his students.
He started out his trading career with $12,415 of bar mitzvah money. His parents gave him their blessing to use it to trade, figuring it was his money to lose. He didn’t lose it — in fact, he made his first million while still in college.
Tim progressed into the hedge fund industry, which led to some major lessons and big-time disenchantment. He wrote about this experience in his autobiography, “
An American Hedge Fund: How I Made $2 Million as a Stock Operator & Created a Hedge Fund.”
He went back to his roots and became a part-time day trader and trading teacher, eventually starting the
Trading Challenge.
These days, Tim is deeply committed to giving back with his charity,
Karmagawa, and making the world a better place with his influence
